Far too many folks believe in their own invincibility. Once seriously injured though, that belief quickly changes. While our bodies are pretty tough, there is only so much force that they can take before they break.

Since car technology has evolved far faster than our human bodies, we’re not really equipped to handle the damage from common car crashes. The impact forces of a car crash of just 19 mph are enough to be fatal. While really any part of the body can be injured in a crash, the head is the most significant part of the body that can be seriously damaged in a crash. It doesn’t matter how strong you are – you can’t simply hold yourself back in a car crash.

Graham

So what happens if you changed the human body to withstand those forces? What would it look like?
The really smart people at Towards Zero in Australia created Project Graham. I highly recommend checking out their short video to learn more about Graham and this fantastic endeavor.

They collaborated to create an imaginary human, named Graham who would be able to withstand the forces of a car crash. Their goal is “to explore this with Graham and remind Victorians of how vulnerable our bodies really are by showing them what we might look like if we were built to survive a crash on our roads.” http://www.meetgraham.com.au/the-broader-context

Really cool stuff. I would love to see this program implemented in educational settings in the U.S.
